Every missionary has a story to tell. In 1992, LaVona and Keith wrote about their experiences while serving in the Grandin Building in Palmyra, New York mission, concerning their observations of the various elements that came together for the first printing of the Book of Mormon in 1829-30 by Egbert B. Grandin. They were motivated by what they felt was the lack of understanding data (as only an old printer could provide) that was readily available to the average reader regarding such a momentous event. Considering the impact this book (Book of Mormon) would have on the world, and mankind, this would have to be considered one of the two most significant printing jobs in the history of man, along with Guttenberg's "42-line Bible," one of the first books created on the newly invented printing press in the early 1440s.
This story was submitted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in 1993 and copyrighted. This is a mini book with a magnum message. This book explains the miracle from connecting the gold plates to Joseph Smith, to the written word, to the finished book; how the Lord worked to complete the cycle and get his word to his people. And the story begins . . .
